Every morning when I push open my window, I see the delicate yellowish/orange little flower in our garden all fresh with dew. I always smile and think time for us to start another day too.

This is my favourite season of the year. Maybe it is because anything can happen in the spring. On Friday it rained all night long and the next morning it was drizzling  outside, but today the sun is back in full force. Flowers and blossom are blooming everywhere and there are fresh green leaves on the trees.


Holland is such a beautiful country with such contrasts, slightly like the weather.The Keukenhof  is open in April with it's fantastic flowers (Silent Sunday post)


 April for me is a month of change and busy days, it's when the weather flits from one thing to another. My wardrobe bursts at the seams, as I try to accommodate the still needed winter  clothes, temperatures in the morning can still be 8 degrees and those summer clothes for the days, when the sun beats down and it's in the 20s.
Winter turns to Spring and all around Holland, daffodils and tulips blossom. Blossom sprouts on all the trees and it becomes a scene that until two years ago I never knew. Seasons don't happen in Gran Canaria and it is too dry for a lot of plants and flowers.



For me April is also busy, as it is nearing towards the end of the university year and this means planning, exams and endless meetings.
We also celebrate a lot in April in the Tales from Windmill Fields household: We have birthdays:  Great Nans, Great Grandads, Great Grandad -number 2 (Funky Monkey is lucky and quite unusual in that she has 4 great grandparents still living), Uncle, Mummy, Aunty and a friend. It is also my parents Wedding Anniversary, Easter, Koninginnedag and this year the Royal Wedding.

I leave April with a Spring in my step and a quite a bit poorer too!
